Q: How often should I get my oil changed? Why is it so important?

A: Oil changes are important because the cleaner your oil is, the better it lubricates your engine, keeps it from overheating, and stops deposits from building up. The more you drive, the dirtier your oil gets, reducing your engine's performance.

How often you should get an oil change depends on your car and the type of oil you use, but generally every 5,000 to 8,000 miles is ideal. Talk to your technician about the right service schedule for your car.
